1   9" pie crust
 
Apple mixture:
      7-8 cups sliced apples
      3/4 cup sugar
       1 tsp. cinnamon
 
Crumb mixture (mix with pastry cutter to form small clumps):
      3/4 cup brown sugar
      1/2 cup flour
      1/2 cup oats
      3/4 tsp. cinnamon
      1/3 cup soft butter
 
Pre-heat oven to 425.  Place bottom crust in your 9" pie pan and crimp the edges.  Place 1/2 of your apple slice mixture in the bottom of the pie pan.   Cover the apples with 1/2 of your crumb mixture.  Then repeat, one more layer of apples followed by the rest of the crumb mixture on the top of the pie.  Pour 1/4 cup of water over the top of the pie.  Bake for 50- 60 minutes until good and brown and the apples are fork tender.
