I have an 08 prostar with 500 isx. The abs light on the dash is on and on my screen (where the mileage is located) it reads abs module. Where is this module on an 08. And does it need replaced or could there be another problem to cause these warning lights? If so, what? Also my traction control light on the dash is on. What is that? Thanks in advance.

The ABS module is located on the inside wall of the cab, near the floor, directly in front of the passenger door. You would remove that little kick panel to access it. The message in the LCD is only saying the problem is with the ABS system. It is not saying that specifically the module itself is faulty. The ABS module has detected a problem with the ABS system somewhere. With most ABS system faults the ABS is fully or partially disabled along with the traction control. The traction control is actually controlled by the ABS module. The ABS module will record what fault it is detecting. You would need to connect a computer to the truck that can read Bendix EC60 ABS codes. When you turn the key on, you should hear all the ABS modulator valves clicking one at a time for a start up check, (it should do 2 full cycles at each key on for 8 clicks). If you turn the key on and do not hear the clicks this means the ABS module is not powering up with the rest of the truck. The main ABS fuses or breakers are located in the fuse panel in front of the passenger seat, located in spots F8-B and F8-D. These are both 30 amp. The ignition fuse is a 5 amp fuse located in spot F11-D. Make sure none of these are tripped, blown or loose.

There is an air pressure sensor in the dash that reads air brake application. If the cruise is not canceling, and it is stubborn for selecting a starting gear, the body controller may not be getting a brake pedal application signal. This is the same signal for the brake lights. So if you have brake lights then the sensor should be working. Sounds like your truck has the single draw, single return fuel tank system. The second fuel tank is an extra "storage" tank. The body controller senses the fuel level in both tanks and will turn on an electric pump to transfer fuel over from the storage tank to the draw tank. Any number of issues can cause this problem. Both problems require a deep understanding of electrical and electronic systems and you need the proper tools and wiring information to even start diagnosing these. Since the cruise is not canceling, that is an extreme safety problem and you have this looked at by a professional. The only thing you can really do is check your battery connections, especially the grounds, to make sure they are tight and clean.
