This drama was a breath of fresh air. It was so refreshing to see so much women empowerment and sisterhood in a historical genre. I love that the leads learn to trust and communicate with each other as well as learn from one another. The cast was absolutely amazing!! The sisterhood shown is one of the main highlights of this series. From women's rights to bringing awareness about postpartum depression. I can’t even put into words how happy I felt seeing these topics discussed.

the chemistry was really good between the leads but what sold the show was the female friendships.

watching this drama felt like having a warm meal with ur bestfriend after a long & tiring day. the romance between the leads was lovely, and i loved how they communicate & support each other no matter what. they complemented each other so well. but what made the drama so so wonderful for me was the sisterhood. the female friendships. it warmed my heart watching these amazing ladies support each other through thick & thin. the show had a deep understanding abt female struggle & it was refreshing to see it highlighted in a historical setting. i love how these women powered through the difficulties of being a woman in the traditional & patriarchal society of xinchuan (& jinchuan: yuan ying). in the end, they…

delightfully light-hearted without shying away from exploring gender-related topics and complicated family dynamics; comedic timing by the whole cast is so successfully on point; subversive themes such as unity and sisterhood among the wives and other female characters, FL & ML have the healthiest relationship; FL & ML have so much depth in characterization (beautifully acted as well)
One of the best 2022 cdrama ive seen!! Go and have a watch 🏮

nothing much going on really & kinda slow but I loved the sisterhood & sense of family.

It's good, but this type of slice-of-life drama is kind of boring.
I don't like how I don't know what our main goal is in a drama... Like you have to let me know what your goal is for the whole episode.
I don't want a new problem and solution every two episodes. This is too slice-of-life.And I felt it was dragging for me, so I dropped it after episode 20.

Probably the healthiest historical cdrama relationship, they barely have any conflict as a couple and I also unexpectedly found the second couple kinda cute. It was actually more feminist than I was expecting and female friendships are prevalent which was refreshing. It's way too long though like it could've been 30 eps instead of 40 cause the first 14 eps are solid but then there isn't much romance until the end so I was skipping through a lot of boring scenes even though I found the fictional setting interesting and I still understood what was going on. I might not have finished it if I hadn't seen a cute edit of them and I was also procrastinating lol. Also very minor detail but I liked that there were still cuts of the next ep at the end of every ep compared to kdramas that put still cuts of the ep you just watched at the end.

after about a few days since i’ve finished this show (and repeatedly rewatched my favorite scenes henceforth) i can confidently say this is one of (if not the) top cdrama for me that i’ve seen so far. there is just so much to love, to treasure, to enjoy. never have i seen a show that combined romance, sisterhood, family, [some themes of] feminism, and politics with historical slice-of-life as a background. not to mention all the delicious food throughout, too! all of the cast and crew delivered their A game for this one. <3

Came for the romance, stayed for the sisterhood!
