Descriptive text narrative for smoke/dust observed in satelite imagery through Aug. 4, 2024, 10:06 a.m.
SMOKE:
Canada/Northern United States/Atlantic Ocean - Mixed density smoke attributed to wildfire activity across western and central Canada and the Pacific Northwest of the United States was seen extending over much of Canada, most of the United States and into the North Atlantic Ocean. Within this area, moderate density smoke was seen extending from the Pacific Northwest and portions of British Colombia and Alberta east through southern Canada and the northern United States and into the Atlantic Ocean. The highest density smoke was seen over portions of the Upper Midwest States and also from central British Colombia into Alberta earlier today as well as further to the north, an area of moderate to high density smoke was seen over portions of the southeast Northwest Territories. The majority of these fires became cloud covered by this evening.
DUST: A area of light Saharan dust could be seen in the western the Gulf of Mexico and over the Tropical Atlantic Ocean extending west into portions of the southeastern Caribbean Islands and the southeastern Caribbean Sea.
